Many fellow Philadelphia sports fans do believe their Quarterback Carson Wentz, is already the greatest quarterback of all time. There is no discussion with some of them. They can be seen rocking shirts that read “Welcome to Wentzlyvania”. Philly sports fans are notoriously known for their tremendous passion, so it is hard to change the influence of any of their opinions. Even though 2017 was only Carson’s second season, he showed the world he is ready to take the league by storm, and become the new face of the NFL. Despite only playing in 14 games, Carson Wentz posted phenomenal stats. The man finished with 33 TD’s (Philadelphia Eagles Franchise Record), 7 INT’S, with over 3,000 passing yards. (Stats via NFL.com) Wentz would have absolutely ran away with NFL MVP if he would have remained healthy, and his stats would have tremendously improved from what he finished with.

It seemed as though Wentz improved every game the Eagles won in 2017. His best game statistically came Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. This home date was very anticipated, considering Philly was on a 6 game winning streak. Strength of schedule was brought up as a critique for the Eagles, because according to the analytics, the team had not “played anybody” worthy of a good match up. The script would be flipped this time around as the Eagles played the #1 ranked defense (at the time) Denver Broncos. “Back in Black” was a huge campain before kickoff, because the team debuted their all black uniforms for this home game. Wentz finished the day with 199 through the air, and 4 TD passes! This would be the second time Wentz threw for 4 TD’s in a single game, as he need it prior in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Sadly enough, Wentz’s season was cut short in Week 14 when the team took a trip out west to play the LA Rams. Previously in Week 13, the Eagles laid an egg against the Seattle Seahawks, not scoring a single offensive Touchdown. Wentz held himself very accountable for the loss, as the man fumbled the ball in the endzone, and also threw an interception. A ton was at stake for the Eagles this game. The team was sitting at 11 wins, a 12th would secure the team an NFC East championship. Carson bounced back with another 4 TD performance, with the last creating history…just before Wentz threw his 4th touchdown of the game, he suffered an injury to his left knee after recklessly diving into the endzone HEADFIRST for a touchdown. Unfortunately, their was a penalty on the play, and the touchdown was called back. After the play, Wentz appeared to be very shaken up, but remained to play in the game. Wentz was sandwiched by two LA Ram defenders. Philadelphia had the ball on 4th an goal, as star receiver Alshon Jeffery reeled in Carson’s 33rd TD of the season. Immendinetly after the play, Wentz was sidelined for the rest of the season diagnosed with a torn ACL. Carson Wentz broke the Philadelphia Eagles all time touch down record…on a broken leg…

After extensive rehab and recovery, Carson Wentz says he will be ready for Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season. All sources close to the Eagles say that Wentz has blown their mind on how quickly he healed. Some even say that he is trowing the ball woth mor of a “zip” than he had before. Scouts are also impressed with his mobilty, he does display any discomfort despite wearing a knee brace. Wentz is a true one of a kind athlete, and gives the fans of Philly hope, and a bright future!
