Doug Pederson and the Philadelphia Eagles snapped their 3-game losing streak by defeating long time rival New York Giants at home in a primetime Monday Night Football contest!

With these results, Philly is just a half game back of Dallas for the NFC East lead.

The win was not pretty by any means…

Weather played a huge role in last nights contest. Steady rain hindered the performance of many offensive players. Winds even reached a high of 20 mph during some parts of the night!

I guess it alway’s isn’t sunny in Philadelphia

Due to Daniel Jones foot injury, 16 year signal caller Eli Manning returned under center in hopes to win on the road against the arch-rival Eagles. Eli’s first career win came courtesy of the Bird, but as of late Manning is just a mere 1-9 against the Eagles in his last 10 tries.

Overall, Eli Manning was 10-21 all-time versus the Eagles before his start.

After a scoreless first quarter, Eli had early success finding rookie receiver Darrius Slayton.

Eli was letting it fly, which caused the Giants to jump to a 17-3 Halftime lead.

It wasn’t until late in the 3rd quarter when the Eagles found some type of offensive rhythm. Injuries to Alshon Jeffery (foot) and Lane Johnson (ankle) also slowed down the Eagles offensive rhythm.

An unexpected pulse from Boston Scott rallied Philly in the 4th quarter! Scott’s stat line reads 59 rush yards with a TD, with an added 69 yards receiving!

Down to only two receivers (Whiteside, Ward Jr.) Wentz was still able to pass for over 300 yards and throw 2 TD’s.

Carson Wentz now has 16 straight games with at least 1 passing TD! That streak is currently the longest in the NFL.

Zach Ertz came up big along the stretch capping off his Monday Night off by leading all Eagles pass catchers with 9 recs. for 91 catches and TWO LATE TD’s. (One in the 4th Quarter, One in OT)

After an Ertz TD with just seconds remaining, Philly forced Overtime after knotting it up 17-17.

Philadelphia won the coin toss, and never looked back. After some slicing and dicing by Sanders and Scott, Ertz scored the aforementioned OT Touchdown.

Indeed the Eagles did earn a victory, but it was not cute. We had to take the Giants to overtime…

They let Eli Manning come off the bench and torch them early.

Injuries continue to hinder this unit.

Offense still does not have enough playmakers

Secondary sucks

Play calling is suspect…

The same problems keep rearing their heads as this season progresses.

But beside all of these issues, the Eagles still have a chance to earn the #4 seed in the NFC playoffs.

Like a wise man once said… “A win is a win”

This win propels Philly over NY with the all-time series lead.

Eagles lead the Giants 86-85-2 *Including Playoffs

With a record of 6-7 Pederson and the Birds must remain true to their “One game at a time” mindset moving forward.

Their goal of winning the NFC East is still right in front of them…
