THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WIIIIINNNNNNNN
The team is now 7-7, in position to potentially win the NFC East
In back to back weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to pull off come from behind wins against NFC East foes.
Similar to last week, this game was no gimme. Washington gave Philly everything they had to offer.
Rookie QB Dwayne Haskins played his best game as a pro, passing for 261 yards and 2 TD’s. Fellow rookie and former collegiate teammate Terry McLaurin helped contribute to Haskins performance by reeling in 5 catches for 130 yards.
Much like the rest of the season, this Eagles defense was been wildly inconsistent. The unit also allowed over 100 yards on the ground. Washington was able to balance their offense attack, keeping Philly’s defense susceptible to big plays.
Offensively, Doug Pederson relied heavily on Zach Ertz and Miles Sanders.
As usual, Ertz lead all Eagles receivers in yardage (61)
His TD helped give the Birds the lead in the 3rd quarter
Miles Sanders had a career day against the Redskins. Sanders became the Eagles all time leader in yards from scrimmage as a rookie!
He also rushed for over 100 yards, which was the first time any Eagles runner has surpassed that mark since 2017! This stat also helped him surpass LeSean McCoy most all-time rushing yards for an Eagles rookie RB!
Sanders (26) slashes through the Redskins defense. His longest carry was good for 56 yards
Sanders (26) showed spectacular effort, rushing for 122 yards
Sanders was also able to corral a BEAUTIFUL ball from Carson Wentz in the back of the south end-zone. Wentz scrambled and derived what many may consider the best throw of his 4 year career.
Carson was able to put it together in the clutch too. Big plays to Boston Scott, Dallas Goedert and Greg Ward Jr. helped Wentz orchestrate his 7th come from behind victory.
On the day Wentz went 30/433 266 yards, and 3 TD’s
As mentioned before, Greg Ward Jr. came up BIG for the Birds the 4th quarter. Ward had 4 catches on the final drive, but the most clutch came on a 4 yard grab in the end-zone with 26 SECONDS LEFT!
Former practice squad standout Greg Ward Jr. (84) comes in clutch for the Eagles
A literal last second fumbled forced by Avonte Maddox allowed Nigel Bradham to run in for a walk-off scoop and score TD!
With this win, the Philadelphia Eagles set up an epic showdown with the Dallas Cowboys next week at Lincoln Financial Field. The winner of that matchup will likely move on into the playoffs as NFC East champions.
Although these past two weeks have been ugly, Doug Pederson and company are making due with what they have. As he constantly preaches to his team…we have to take it one week at a time.
Next week will ultimately decide the fate of the 2019 Philadelphia Eagles…
